About Lua Bruckhoff, accredited Mental Health Social Worker
About Lua - Therapist in Melbourne (Naarm)
I’m Lua, a queer and bi-cultural therapist based in Melbourne (Naarm). I offer compassionate, relational therapy for people looking to understand themselves better, improve their mental health and strengthen their relationships with the people who matter most to them.
At first, many people come to therapy because something might feel off or disconnected - even if it’s hard to describe. I see my role as providing a calm, non-judgmental and collaborative space where we can slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and use evidence-based strategies to work towards your therapeutic goals at a pace that feels right for you.
As an accredited Mental Health Social Worker, I currently offer in-person therapy in Footscray (Melbourne | Naarm), as well as online sessions via telehealth across Australia.
How I Work: Relational, Trauma-Informed & Collaborative
My approach is grounded in:
Relational and trauma-informed therapy — prioritising safety, connection, and your lived experience
Somatic and creative methods — supporting nervous system regulation and expression beyond words
Collaborative pacing — we work at the pace that suits your needs and goals
I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and EMDR, adapting as needed to support your process.
I work with adults who want a respectful, compassionate therapeutic relationship - particularly people navigating identity, belonging, relationship stress, burnout, anxiety, grief or life transitions.
Outside of Work
When I’m not in session, I enjoy spending time with my two naughty cats and the fluffiest dog as well as painting, sailing and cooking Persian meals for friends and family.

My Philosophy: About Calm Centre Therapy
Calm Centre reflects a quality that I learned early in life - the ability to stay calm in overwhelming situations. While this began as a way of coping, through healing, it's become a grounded strength that supports presence, connection and deep attunement in my therapeutic & personal relationships.
I hold the belief that we are more than the sum of our experiences, and that with the right support, those experiences can become sources of insight, resilience, and strength.
In my work as a therapist, I aim to support you to recognise and name your own strengths, soften any self-judgment, and create meaningful change that feels aligned with who you want to be - in your life and in your relationships.
Calm Centre Therapy is grounded in the philosophy that each person inherently carries the capacity for growth, healing, and change.
